Sample selections
... for 19th century Guitar
Gut, nylon, and fluorocarbon strings are shown for 1st through
3rd treble ones in each selections. As an extra, metal wound to be
used on 3rd string are shown in green. Diameters of metal wound are
converted from that for gut and shown in Kuerschner's product number.
If you find some error or comment when you try them, please let me
know via e-mail. String selection depends strongly on the type of
instrument, so please regard the following as a guide line.
Nylon
Fluorocarbon
Gut (Metal wound in Kuerschner's product #)
This should be the most popular scale length among 19th century
guitars, I suspect. I thought it might be better to have a D set with
softer still tension. I've tried various combinations, but you can
try to mix and match from each sets. For example, use harder tension
on 5th and softer on 3rd, etc. That selection also depends on the
instrument, so you got to enjoy? the string selection. It's quite a
pleasure to find a right selection for your instrument.
