Here I report the following research result about Fabricatore family, which I've got by referring to literatures, tracing labels, and observing actual instruments from 2000 through 2003.

November 2004, April 2004, May 2005, Sep 2006 , Sep 2007 , Oct 2008 , Oct 2010 : I've made some revisions about Fabricatore based on my study and lots of information, which I received from many countries after the last issue of my report. I really appreciate all the people who gave me the information.

Literatures hadn't clearly told about Giobanni Battista Fabricatore's son. Some had said that Gennaro Fabricatore I might be the son. But, Francesca Seller corrected it to Raffaele as Giobanni's son based on a label of the1824 instrument. Raffaele's 1813 instrument was newly found. The structural feature of the instrument has given us clearer view about the father-son relationship.

I've found their ateliers'(factorys') operation status based on the address and the year on the label.I know the father-son relation and the family tree by making further traces of instruments.

Furthermore, observation and conparison of instruments of Giobanni Battista, Raffaele, and Gennaro shows a common feature, which is that the family used paper for their instruments.

Attention :
Going forward on my research, I sometimes encounter "fakes". I mean "fakes", not "copies". "Fakes" - false instruments made only for moneymaking. Most of them are of violin-group. In the field of violins and cellos, "fakes" have been routinely flooded for long period, and even nowadays. For guitars and mandolins, the percentage is relatively low. Even so, it's always a headache for a researcher like me who study the history and put together records of each instruments statistically.

Fake-label-producers and fake-luthiers have existed around the world since 18th century or earlier. Especially in the field of violins, you could say that the moral has been almost collapsed. It is regrettable that quite high percentage of old violins appearing on net auctions are "fakes".

In my article here, I'm trying to list only authentic products and not to include "fakes", as best I can. But, it may be impossible to remove all the "fakes", as I'm not gaining every product for direct investigation by myself. When you read my article, please keep the circumstance in mind and use the information as one of the sources. I hope my research can be of your help for your further investigation.
